This scholarship is awarded to outstanding applicants to the doctoral program at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, in Experimental Psychology, who show special promise to emulate Professor Alfred Lit in accomplishing a distinguished career in research.

An engraved portrait of Dr. Lit has been presented to the Psychology Department along with the scholarship award. The portrait is displayed on a wall at the Psychology Department. Graven along with the portrait is a description of the award.

Over time, the names of recipients will be recorded on metal plates attached to a wooden plaque mounted immediately below the Lit portrait.

The first award was made to commence in the Fall of 2003; links below include photos and other ceremonials.
